Order of the Arrow (OA)

Kittakima Chapter (Baden Powell District)

A message from the Lodge Adviser:

OA WORK DAY

Brothers....

As most of you know, the location of the Order of the Arrow work day this Saturday, May 29th has been changed from John Nichols Scout Ranch to Camp George Thomas based on input from our council property manager. We will begin working at 8:00 am and will conclude in the last afternoon. Please wear work clothes & work gloves, and bring bow saws and loppers. Adults who are able to bring trailers with a vehicle to haul brush as well as chain saws would be greatly appreciated.

Lunch will be provided. I need input immediate from each chapter as well as units that may attend, on the number who will be helping, so the camp will have enough food. This activity is open to units and districts. There will be few tasks for Cub Scout age youth, but there will be plenty for older youth and adults. Please get the word out and the information back on the number who will attend ASAP. Thank you.

Yours in Service,

Tom Huibregtse

NEW CHAPER WEBSITE

The Kittakima Chapter has a new website.  This website has email subscription where you can subscribe to be notified of any updates made to the site.  The address is www.kittakimachapter.org.  Please come take a look.

OA DUES – PAST DUE?????

OA dues are now due and payable.  If you haven’t submitted your dues for your unit with your unit re-charter now is the time to do so.  Dues are still just $10 per member.  Please make your check payable to the Last Frontier Council and remit to the Council Service Center with a list of names.  All members must be registered members of the BSA. Be sure to indicate the payment is for OA dues at the time you make it.  If you have questions or concerns, please contact Keith Carpenter at 613-8782.

BROTHERHOOD CEREMONY

Ordeal is only the first step in becoming a member in the Order of the Arrow.  You must seal your membership by participating in the Brotherhood Ceremony.  An Ordeal member is eligible to become a Brotherhood member upon the completion of 10 months as an Ordeal Member. (A complete list of requirements can be found at www.manu133.org and will be covered prior to the ceremony).   Kittakima Chapter plans on conducting a Brotherhood enrichment and ceremony following the campfire at Webelos Woods on Saturday, March 27th.  By sealing your membership as a Brotherhood member you are helping our Lodge become a “Quality Lodge”!

CEREMONY TEAMS – WE NEED YOU!!!

The ceremony team needs you!  We are currently recruiting any OA Brother who is interested in ceremonies.  Currently we have around 8 active ceremony team members and have been the primary ceremony team at many Lodge events.  We need additional Kittakima Chapter OA members to perform the Pre-Ordeal and Ordeal ceremonies.  The only requirements are an enthusiastic desire to be involved and commit to the team.  The rest will come.   Please contact Keith Carpenter at 613-8782 for more details.
